Whitley Bay is not  exactly short of beautiful landmarks, but St Mary's island and lighthouse has  a special place in my heart, with it being the site of many of my first memories (not to mention being the logo for my first school!).  The island and lighthouse inspired me to take this journey, designing cross stitch patterns and kits showcasing the UK's local wonders, and so it is my first destination!
 
The design was influenced by art deco travel posters of the area, as well as the town's colours that always make me smile on a sunny day.
