It's been almost two years since I nervously picked up my phone to call The Sill and ask if they would be interested in stocking my kits in their fab gift shop. Those calls always terrify me because my imposter syndrome inevitably rears it's ugly head and convinces me they will just laugh at me and hang up, so I tend to avoid having to deal with that and just email potential stockists instead. However in this case, I couldn't find an email address for the right person so I was forced to call. Luckily the lovely ladies at The Sill did not laugh at me, the complete opposite! They were so kind about my kits and within a couple of weeks I had my first order from them. So to celebrate the two year anniversary of us working together I thought I would tell you a little more about this beautiful place which is quite possibly the most stunning location for a cross stitch stockist!
Situated in the heart of Hadrian's Wall Country, The Sill celebrates the nature, landscapes, culture and heritage of the stunning Northumberland National Park. For those with an interest in nature, history or the great outdoors it's the perfect base, with numerous walks from the centre including along parts of Hadrian's Wall, to the iconic site of Sycamore Gap, and to the fascinating Roman Fort of Vindolanda. The Sill even has a hostel on site so you can stay for a few days and really make the most of your time there.
The Sill celebrates the heritage, nature and unique landscapes of the area in everything they do, with permanent and temporary exhibitions, interactive areas in- and outdoors for children, guided wellbeing walks, screenings of local interest films, creative workshops, local makers fairs and more. Their gift shop celebrates the skills and creativity of local artists, makers and artisan food and drink producers, and their café is full of locally sourced goodies too! They truly do champion all things local.
Ever since my first order in March 2023 I have loved working with the guys at The Sill. They have been so supportive of TSK and I can't wait to continue working with them over the next few years!
If you fancy a trip to The Sill, you can check out their website HERE for more information about visiting.
Lovely words from The Sill themselves....
Jennifer approached Northumberland National Park two years ago to sell her Sycamore Gap cross stitch kits in The Sill Shop. We placed an initial order for 20 kits then following their success, we introduced a second ‘festive bauble’ stitch kit. Over the past 18 months we have placed a further six orders to Jennifer for her kits. The kits have proved very popular with all our visitors, be they local or from across the world. People choose them for many reasons; so they have a memento of their visit to the iconic landmark or to engage their creative side. We have sold many kits to visitors attending our creative activity workshops and we have received a lot of lovely feedback.
We are proud to work with so many local makers and creators like Jennifer. It is a privilege to promote and sell her gorgeous kits in The Sill shop.
