It's been almost a year since I dropped my first order off at the fantastic BALTIC Centre For Contemporary Arts who now stock many of my cross stitch kits in their gift shop. It was such an exciting day, so to celebrate the first year of us working together I thought I would tell you a little more about this amazing place!
Situated on the Gateshead quayside, just over the River Tyne from Newcastle Upon Tyne (via the Millennium Bridge), the BALTIC Centre For Contemporary Arts is a fabulous modern arts venue housed within a historic flour mill, bringing together the worlds of industrial history and modern arts in a truly stunning way.
With a top-class restaurant with spectacular views over Newcastle and Gateshead, free entry to permanent and temporary art installations including those of local artists, art sessions/groups for children and young adults, regular craft and art markets, craft workshops, and tours to see the Kittiwake colony who have made their home on the building, there really is something for everyone! And, of course, how could I not mention the gift shop. A well-stocked treasure trove full of fabulous finds from some hugely talented local artists, makers and creatives. The range of items in the shop is so fantastic that every time I drop more kits off I struggle to leave without picking up a little something for me or someone I know.
Ever since my first order in May 2022 I have loved working with the guys at the BALTIC. They have been so supportive of TSK as one of my cross stitch stockists and I can't wait to continue working with them over the next few years!
Lovely words from the BALTIC themselves....
Baltic Shop first came across TSK and Jennifer when she had a table at one of our Craft Fairs back in May 2022 and the decision to stock her stitch kits was an easy one. With their quirky homage to the iconic landmarks of the north east, the stitch kits are the perfect addition to the Baltic Shop offer. We love to show case local designers and we’re proud of the talented makers the region has to offer especially, as in this case, when Jennifer captures Baltic in such a classy cross stitch way! Nearly 12 months on and the kit sales have gone from strength to strength, with festive cross stitch baubles at Christmas, to the new and exciting upcoming cross stitch The Tyne Bridge. People seem to have a strong affinity to our local landscape, no matter where they reside, and the stitch kits and Jennifer have tapped into the joy of a creative, cool activity for some all important me-time.
