Great Christmas Gift Ideas for Northern Crafters 2024

I can't quite believe it's that time of year again, but here we are... Christmas is approaching crazily fast (56 days until Christmas Day at the time of writing this!) and will be here before we know it. So, it's time for the annual TSK Christmas Gift Guide! As with previous years I've brought together 10 of the perfect gift ideas, from cute but useful stocking fillers, to unique cards and gifts that keep on giving. Whether the crafter in your life is into cross stitch, knitting, embroidery, crochet or any other type of craft, we've got you sorted! Let's tick at least one person off your list!

1. Christmas Crafts

The cosy days and evenings around Christmas provide the perfect opportunity for crafters to enjoy a new project, particularly a project that brings all the festive feels! So why not treat them to a Christmas craft project that they can get enjoy while their favourite Christmas film is on the telly? Our beginner-friendly cross stitch bauble kits include everything they need to make not one, not two, but three cross stitch baubles showcasing much-loved Northern landmarks, such as the Whitley Bay and Cullercoats Baubles kit below which includes everything you need to make baubles featuring the Spanish City, St Mary's Lighthouse and Cullercoats Watch House. With four location options to choose from you're bound to find a baubles kit your Northern crafter will love.

2. cosy blankets

Crafters love nothing more than to be super comfy and cosy when they're crafting (and when they're not to be fair!), and blankets are perfect for bringing that comfy feeling I personally have a blanket in every room, just in case I need a bit of cosiness, and speaking of personal experience, this pink, green and cream woollen blanket from Otterburn Mill in Northumberland has been my absolute favourite for years and is always found on my knee when I'm crafting, even at the height of summer! It's beautiful, it's lightweight, in winter it keeps you warm, and in the summer it provides comfort without being too hot. The perfect crafters blanket!

3. a 2025 journal but make it crafty

Journals for the year ahead are a classic Christmas gift, but which one to choose for a crafter? How about this fabulous thread journal kit from Lancashire based Oh Sew Bootiful. It comes with everything your crafter needs to journal the coming year and celebrate the positives of each day using easy embroidery on a beautiful hoop design. And if your crafter already has all the materials, why not get Oh Sew Bootiful's book '365 Days Of Stitches' instead!

4. The gift that keeps on giving

Gift subscriptions are the perfect gift that keeps on giving for crafters. With our cross stitch gift subscriptions your lucky recipient will receive a new project (one of our beginner-friendly cross stitch kits) every 2 months allowing them to stitch their own piece of Northern art! You can choose either a 6 month (3 kits) or 12 month (6 kits) subscription, but either way, you know it will keep you in the good books for a while!

5. northern crafting fuel . . . aka coffee

The first step to any craft project? Make a cuppa! If your crafter is a coffee fan, the Heritage Gift Set from Durham Coffee not only includes a variety of coffee flavours with Durham-themed name, but it even comes with a beautiful print of Durham Castle by local artist Carina Nausner. I actually bought some coffee for my Dad from Durham Coffee last year for Christmas and as a big coffee fan, he was very happy with it!

6. The perfect stocking filler

If there's one thing that all crafters appreciate, it's other crafters skills. These adorable little granny square earrings by North Yorkshire based maker Steffi Glaves are absolutely awe inspiring. The amount of skill that goes in to creating these beautiful earrings is bordering on unbelievable. The fact they also celebrate crafting by featuring the classic granny square is also a win! With lots of different colours on her Etsy, you're sure to find the perfect pair for your Northern crafter (though these are my favourite!).

7. a slightly different project

I'm yet to meet a crafter who doesn't also love lego! These amazing lego sets by Brick This allow you to make northern landmarks from Manchester to Northumberland, northern city scapes, and even a variety of football grounds! My favourite has got to be the Spanish City set, but the Angel Of The North set is also fab!

8. a gift set to make it easy

Gifting couldn't be more easy with our modern cross stitch gift sets. Simply choose the location you would prefer then, if you need help deciding what to include, I will choose the contents for you (all gift sets include a beginner-friendly modern cross stitch kit, a super handy needleminder and a cute pair of embroidery snips) and pop it all in a gift box with a bow and a gift label, so all you have to do is write your Christmas wishes on the label!

9. Don't forget the Christmas Card

One of my favourite parts of the festive period is receiving Christmas cards with beautiful art on the front and lovely messages inside from family and friends. Christmas cards are also the perfect way to support local artists when larger pieces may be out of budget. I recently discovered the North East based artist Anna Longville and absolutely love her range of Northern themed Christmas cards, including this one of Souter Lighthouse (which would go perfectly with our Souter Lighthouse Cross Stitch Kit!).

10. Still don't know?
